Gym Testimonial
I have joined The TOUGH Spot since December 2010, and despite being one of the most difficult decisions that year on whether I wanted to commit to yearly membership, it has truly been a decision which I have never regretted to date.
I owe a lot to The TOUGH Spot for which has helped me into evolve into my current physical condition. I feel much fitter and more energised each day. I have never imagined myself being hooked on going to a session at the gym as I feel now compared to years in the past with other gyms. Being there gets me pumped and seeing the results makes me addicted to the place.
Prior to signing up with The TOUGH Spot, I was being complacent with my fitness. Letting myself go with my nutrition intake, sitting at the office working and not doing much after work hours to exercise, and doing 1 or 2 sessions of sport over the weekend took its toll on my body, my fitness levels and my emotional levels. I was getting chubbier by the day, losing my stamina, and constantly feeling lethargic, stressed and exhausted.
I considered singing up with Fitness First as I have in the past, but I hated the atmosphere there. I found myself feeling intimidated and inferior surrounded by muscular men pumping weights, and feel the eyes staring at me in the gym thinking “what is this puny guy doing here?!” I did not enjoy the atmosphere and found the classes there rather mundane.
I searched through Google for gyms in the West End area and The TOUGH Spot appeared in the Top 3 of the search results. I had a look through their website and I was impressed with the classes they offered, especially the Caveman program. Their Personal Training programs also attracted my attention. I telephoned The TOUGH Spot and informed Anna that I was interested to have a look at their gym and later that afternoon, as I walked up to the Gym, I hear people grunting, bags being smacked, and a dozen people were punching and kicking in a Muay Thai class. I was surprised they even had Muay Thai at this Gym. I had a look at the gym equipment and despite not being as slick and technologically advanced as the equipments in Fitness First, it had a humbling feel about them, that they are as effective as they look brutal. I knew this was a gym that will not be soft on me, a gym that will push me to the edge, and a gym that has a certain uniqueness that appeals to me.
I was very determined and excited to start and after the first week of the high intensity of the classes (Kettlebells, Muay Thai and Boxing for Fitness), it just hit me like a train. I felt my body struggle at the end of each session, but I enjoyed each of them so much that I was always looking forward to the next class, willing to push my body to the edge, and allowing the instructors to push me through the pain barrier. The variety of exercises and muscle groups that gets mobilised to achieve each action gives the body a great workout. Week by week I felt my body getting stronger, fitter and I noticed myself feeling happier much more each day.
The people at the gym are very supportive, despite the odd competitiveness in the class challenge, and it makes you feel that you are not alone in this Gym, which dismissed any inhibitions that I had when I was at previous gyms. People can shout and grunt, and encouraged to do so as loud as possible to get every bit of energy out of their body. As I quote Anna & Taco’s summary of the people at the gym: “It is not just about the individuals, The TOUGH Spot is a fitness community.”
The day I joined the much anticipated Caveman Circuit Training session was one that I will always remember. I knew Caveman Training was challenging, physically and mentally. I have seen the videos and despite my tiny frame, I was up for the challenge. Having the instructors push you through the pain barrier to get to the very end of each circuit makes me feel that the membership fee was a bargain. It was painful and I have never felt so dazed and exhausted at a Gym before. But the results are amazing. You just have to do it to experience it!
I am getting fitter each week since being at this gym. I am involved in more classes: Caveman, Boxing for fitness, Muay Thai, TRX and Kettlebells. The atmosphere, the staff, the other members makes you feel like part of a family, and the instructors will get every ounce of energy to get you over the line and reach your goal. It has definitely been one of my best decisions to sign up with The TOUGH Spot and I can vouch for the others that they feel the same way about this amazing Gym! The end results are all positives, despite having to get through the pain barrier. As a wise man once told me: “No pain, no gain in this industry!”
A very satisfied client,
