Quality Personal Training
There are a lot of factors that determine how products and services are priced. The cost of production such as materials, technology, and experience, market dominance and competition, branding, and many more affect how they are priced. While most people would like to get more from paying less, sometimes, it really takes more money to get the kind of product and service that can meet and exceed people’s expectations. Most of the time, people will settle for cheaper products as long as these satisfy their minimum requirements. This is logical and often very cost effective since some products are just more expensive because of their brand name or is being advertised by famous people. However, there are things that people should not compromise just because of cheaper prices like those related with their health and well-being. Personal training is one of those things.
People who want quality personal training should be prepared to pay for it. Remember the old saying, “if you pay peanuts, you get monkeys.” And this is very true with personal training. Personal training can be expensive because of a number of reasons. Quality personal trainers are highly in demand. These trainers put a lot of their time and effort on their clients, not only during their training sessions, but also during off hours. They do extensive study on the needs of the clients and develop training programs that are custom-tailored to their needs. They keep up to date with their clients, put together a diet program, and try everything to make sure that their clients get motivated. When you think about it, most of the time, the time and effort that they give for their clients are worth far more than they are paid.
One very important aspect that needs to be considered when choosing a personal trainer is their level of expertise and experience. More expensive personal trainers have undergone training and certifications that assure that they are very much competent with their field. But more importantly, they have the experience in providing the results that their clients are looking for. They also have the maturity in dealing with all kinds of people and finding ways to motivate and bring out their best.
Choosing a personal trainer should be done pretty much with the same discrimination as when choosing a car. Buying a cheaper rundown car is easy on the bucks but will not get you very far. Most likely, maintaining and repairing a cheap car might cost more than a more expensive quality car that needs less maintenance and with more reliability. It is the same with personal trainers. Just like a car, personal trainers should be there for you and take you where you want to go in terms of your personal development. I’m sure you want to have a smooth and fun ride to get to where you want to be. But of course, this will cost you more. Clients who choose a cheaper personal trainer who lacks the experience and expertise might only end up disappointed by not achieving their needs, receiving very poor guidance, or get injured with inappropriate training programs. Sometimes it is better to pay more for a surefire service than paying less and end up wasting that money.
A quality personal trainer produces results. They walk the walk which means that they can do what they tell their clients to do. They look healthy, maintain good posture, are clean, and are always professional. Quality personal trainers are knowledgeable with their field but do not need technical talk to impress their clients. They also have a passion for continuous learning. They try to learn and improve more with their craft. They most likely have people that can give realistic testimonials with their achievements.
Quality personal trainers do not immediately plunge their clients in training without giving considerable assessment and planning with the client. The client must secure a medical clearance to the personal trainer to certify that he or she can survive the training. Then the personal trainer assesses general health issues and previous injuries. Both postural and functional movement analyses need to be conducted for an accurate prescription and design of exercise. Once the client is fully assessed, the personal trainer can then proceed in setting goals with the client and set check points to see how well they are meeting those targets. Setting goals that are meaningful to the client helps keep them motivated. Also, giving clients nutritional advice is very helpful in helping them start the battle in losing weight.
A good personal trainer helps in managing all aspects of a client’s health and fitness goals such as weight and fat loss and improving energy levels by focusing on the key areas which include motivation, nutrition, and corrective exercise. They utilize a system to ensure that training activities are done consistently. A trainer who does not have a training system is probably making things up on the spot (which isn’t always bad, as long as they have the experience to back it up). Aside from exercise programs, they will also develop lifestyle programs which are more important than mere exercises. A person only trains for a few hours in a day and spends the rest of the day living the kind of lifestyle that they have. A great trainer knows that in order to better achieve their goals, changes in the client’s lifestyles should be made especially if they run counter with the goals that they are striving for.
Quality personal trainers know when to appropriately push their clients to their limits. Instead of relying on traditional steady-state cardio or long slow distance training which provides inferior results, good personal trainers will employ appropriate higher intensity training methods. Most importantly, good personal trainers DO NOT injure their clients.
Finding a great personal trainer can be difficult and they do not come cheap. But if a person is really serious in getting the results that they need, investing in a quality personal trainer is a must. In the end, achieving one’s goals, feeling good about one’s self, and gaining self-esteem and confidence will far outweigh the money spent for a great personal trainer.
