BJJ for Fitness
Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu is a martial art and a self defense system that focuses on grappling and especially ground fighting. It teaches that a smaller, weaker person can successfully defend against a bigger, stronger assailant by using leverage and proper technique most notably by applying joint-locks and chokeholds to defeat the other person. Brazilian Jiu Jitsu training can be used for sport grappling tournaments and mixed martial arts (MMA) competition or self defense.
Our BJJ for Fitness classes are for all levels, male and female. When it comes to partner work you'll be matched up with people of your own size etc. Some woman area ready to take on the big boys, and trust me, some of the females are strong! I had a hard time myself getting out of lock that my wife put on me in the class :-)
BJJ class was great. I thought it'd be difficult to teach a bunch of beginners, but we got through a lot and everyone seemed to be getting the hang of it!
