What is the difference between a gym and fitness centre?
If you look it up in the dictionary I think you will find that Gym, Fitness Centre and Health Club are pretty synonymous. But personally I feel that the word gym these days is far removed from what it used to mean as it was used in ancient Greece “meaning a locality for both physical and intellectual education”.
We want our Brisbane based fitness centre to be more of a place for learning and education, we want it to be a community for health and fitness, a place where people come together, be competitive and enjoy fitness, talk about fitness and experience the ultimate fitness. Therefore we like to call our facility a “Fitness Centre”, I realize we use the word gym throughout our website and marketing, but that is because people are still so used to the word “gym” and we don’t want to miss out on clientele :-)
